1:8 scale GT cars are something relatively new in R/C and got myself one in early 2008.
Later this year we put together a class to race in and it was a great success.
I was happy to win the series of 3 races eventually finishing 2nd, 1st and 3rd. More about that in the cars and races departments.
In 2009, I'm also going to try 1:10 scale in addition to 1:8 GTs, which has been around much longer.
It's a whole new class for me and competition is harder there. My focus is to learn something new by it.
Not sure yet if I'm actually going to race the class, but I have a car ready for it.
Past 4 years I've been racing 1:8 scale offroad buggies and some truggies, but I'm pretty much giving up on it.
Not sure why, but maybe I'm a bit tired doing it. Getting old you know. And the sport is getting more expensive.
However, if they decide to put together a class for 35+ years old one day, I'm all in for sure.
Propably my best achievement in overall was finishing in Top 20 in the national Hobao Cup 2007 of around 75 racers in the series of 4 races last year.
Before this, I actually started with onroad cars, so getting back on tarmac again was a great thing in 2008.
Off season I play & coach Ice Hockey as I don't like electric R/C cars that much,
although have a couple of brushless mini Infernos to play with my kids. I also do some wind surfing on summer, when I'm not on the track.
Below I'm they guy with the red Ferrari. That's a photo from the 1st GT race in the summer 2008 when I finished 2nd. That's why the smile haha. The photo on the right is on the other hand from the 3rd race in the end of the summer when it was rather cold, +9 degrees Celcius. I finished 3rd and smiling was much harder due to the cold weather.
